Michal is a Taiwan and China specialist with a focus on defense and military issues. Broader research interests include territorial disputes in East and South China Sea, Taiwan-Japan relations, and cyber security.
He is currently a Research Fellow at Prague-based think-tank Association for International Affairs (since 2007) and a Fellow of the Metropolitan Society for International Affairs (The Met Society, since 2016). Other affiliations include: Contributing Analyst at Wikistrat since 2012 and a member of The Center for International Maritime Security (CIMSEC) since 2015.
Michal holds Master’s Degree from Political Science at Charles University in Prague. His articles are published regularly in online magazines and policy and scholarly blogs, including The Diplomat, The National Interest, Thinking Taiwan, China Policy Institute Blog, ASPI’s The Strategist, etc.
